In an effort to promote tourism in Brazil, Azul Linhas Aéreas and the Brazilian Agency for International Tourism Promotion (Embratur) have launched a partnership. On Tuesday, the two entities introduced a new promotional livery on two of Azul’s aircraft, an Airbus A320neo and an ATR 72-600.

Promoting tourism in Brazil

Azul Linhas Aéreas is not a stranger to introducing unique liveries on its fleet. On Tuesday, Embratur and Azul held an event to present the new sticker promoting Brazilian tourism. Daniel Bicudo, Azul Marketing and Business Director, said that being able to paint the planes with a livery in partnership with Embratur makes them very happy and with the feeling that they are on the right track.

“Azul performs flights to destinations that are only served by us, totaling more than 150 Brazilian cities, and we continue expanding our network day after day to provide the best travel experience in the country,” he added.

Meanwhile, Marcelo Freixo, president of Embratur, said that this partnership symbolizes the commitment to strengthen the promotion of tourism in the country.

“We are sure that integration is the way for tourism to generate more development, employment, and income in our country.”

The Airbus A320neo painted with this livery has a registration number PR-YRV. This aircraft was delivered to the Brazilian airline in December 2018. It has the capacity to carry 174 passengers in a two-class configuration (144 seats in economy and 30 in economy plus). The leasing company AerCap owns the plane. Azul Linhas Aéreas did not reveal which ATR 72-600 was painted with the Embratur livery.

Azul’s long tendency to launch unique liveries

The Brazilian carrier is widely known for introducing special liveries. In the past, the airline has shown aircraft painted with Disney characters, or with unique designs promoting Brazilian wildlife, or with the Brazilian flag itself.

Disney liveries

Azul has four Airbus aircraft painted with a Disney character as part of an ongoing partnership with the entertainment company. These planes are painted with Mickey Mouse (or Mickey Mouse nas Nuvens), Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Daisy Duck. The last of these four planes, Daisy Duck (or Margarida nas Nuvens), was introduced to Azul’s fleet in November last year. Azul expects to add a fifth Disney plane. Goofy will be the character painted on this aircraft.

The Brazilian flag livery

Azul has four planes with a livery showing the Brazilian flag on the fuselage. These aircraft are one Embraer E190, one Airbus A330-200, one A321neo, and one ATR 72-600. Their registrations are PR-AYV, PR-AIV, PR-YJE, and PR-AKO, respectively.

The Brazilian airline also has one plane promoting local wildlife, particularly the blue macaw, a national symbol recently reintroduced to its natural habitat. The aircraft in question is an Embraer E195 E2 registration PS-AEF.

Finally, Azul also operates several pink-painted aircraft. The latest, an Embraer E195-E2 registration PS-AEA, was delivered in 2019. Ten years ago, Azul even had a gorgeous ATR 72-600 painted in pink livery, registration PR-AZV, which is no longer in the company.
