Aeromexico is Mexico’s oldest carrier and the only one operating long-haul flights to destinations in Europe and Asia. Employing a fleet of over 150 aircraft, including 20 Boeing 787 Dreamliners (eight -8s and 12 -9s), it has plenty of routes well over 5,000 miles in distance. Which ones are they? Let’s find out.

Going the distance

Aeromexico currently operates 4,118 weekly flights, making available 619,336 seats, or about 150.4 per departure, according to data from Cirium. The airline serves 88 destinations, including 40 international. Without further ado, let’s review Aeromexico’s top ten longest routes from bottom to top.

10. Mexico City-Buenos Aires

We start in Latin America. Aeromexico’s tenth-longest route connects Mexico City International Airport (MEX) to Buenos Aires Ezeiza International Airport (EZE). The Mexican carrier flies daily the 4,584 miles long distance between both cities (7,377 kilometers). This route is uncontested.

8. Monterrey-Madrid

In this top ten, two routes do not depart from Mexico City. This is one. Aeromexico operates daily services from Monterrey International Airport (MTY) to Madrid Barajas International (MAD). This route is 5,414 miles long (8,714 kilometers). It is Monterrey’s only long-haul non-stop flight to Europe.

7. Mexico City-London Heathrow

Aeromexico flies daily to the UK’s largest hub, London Heathrow Airport (LHR), competing directly with British Airways. The distance between both cities is 5,541 miles long (8,917 kilometers).

6. Mexico City-Madrid

The second of Aeromexico’s three direct routes to Madrid, this service is 5,643 miles long (9,081 kilometers). Aeromexico flies twice daily on this route, competing against Iberia, which currently has three daily flights between cities.

4. Mexico City-Amsterdam

In fourth place, but just by four miles, the Mexico City-Amsterdam (AMS) route is 5,729 miles long (9,219 kilometers). Aeromexico, competing with another SkyTeam partner, KLM, flies daily to the Dutch capital.

3. Guadalajara-Madrid

This is Aeromexico’s third direct route between Mexico and Spain (the fourth, which was Mexico City-Barcelona, is currently scrapped). The distance between Guadalajara and Madrid is 5,804 miles long (9,340 kilometers). Aeromexico flies this route once daily.

2. Mexico City-Rome

Aeromexico’s latest non-stop route is also the second-longest. The carrier began flying to Rome in 2022, covering the 6,362-mile long distance (10,238 kilometers) between Mexico City and Rome Fiumicino International Airport (FCO).

1. Mexico City-Tokyo Narita

We finally get to the number one position, Aeromexico’s longest non-stop route. We are talking about the airline’s current only flight to Asia, connecting Mexico City and Tokyo Narita. This route is 7,004 miles long (over 11,270 kilometers). Aeromexico flies once daily to this destination. In the past, Aeromexico had two other destinations in Asia: Shanghai and Seoul.

Curiously enough, Aeromexico does not have any route that is between 3,000 and 4,000 miles long. The eleventh longest route for the Mexican carrier is Mexico City-Lima, which is 2,629 miles long.
