A new partnership

Blue Islands and the Southampton Football Club have joined forces to provide Club fans and tourists more accessibility to the Channel Islands. Blue Islands will become a Regional Partner of the club during the 2023/24 EFL Championship season. The two partners aim to promote Jersey and Guernsey to Southampton FC’s fanbase and followers. The CEO of Blue Islands, Rob Veron, commented,

We are excited to announce our collaboration with Southampton FC, to showcase the Channel Islands to its fans and those visiting St Mary’s. Both Jersey and Guernsey make perfect short break destinations easily accessed from Southampton Airport. We’re proud to showcase our beautiful islands.

Blue Islands also has exclusive competitions planned for its customers in Jersey and Guernsey. To celebrate the partnership with Southampton, the two entities have launched a competition that offers two lucky fans the opportunity to win a weekend trip to Jersey. The winners are able to bring their chosen companions on the trip.

Similarly, two additional fans will have the opportunity to win a trip to Guernsey. Jersey Airport (JER) and Guernsey Airport (GCI) are Blue Island’s main bases, having scheduled services to various destinations in the United Kingdom and Europe. According to the Chief Commercial Officer for Southampton Football Club, Charlie Boss,

With this partnership, we are not only teaming up with a thriving local business that plays a big role in connecting our community. We are also demonstrating our commitment to creating inclusive and affordable experiences for our supporters – whether that’s travel with Blue Islands or our recent decision to reduce season ticket prices.

Blue Islands Limited was founded in 1999 as a small operation and formally established as a company in 2001. Headquartered in Forest, Guernsey, the airline operates scheduled services from and within the Channel Islands to the United Kingdom and Europe. The airline introduced an hourly shuttle service, the Blue Shuttle, between Guernsey and Jersey in December 2007, providing greater connectivity between its base airports. Currently, Blue Islands operates a fleet of five ATR 72-500 aircraft.

The United Kingdom, particularly Southampton, is one of the airline’s frequent destinations. Depending on the season, the carrier operates up to seven daily flights from the Islands to Southampton. According to Veron,

Southampton is an integral part of our network, with up to seven flights a day from Southampton to the Islands. The Channel Islands are a world away that are close to home; this is a great opportunity to highlight the many reasons to visit Jersey and Guernsey to the club’s followers over the next season.

The airline also aims to support Southampton Football Club’s soccer schools in the Channel Islands.
