From Alaska Airlines’ hub in Los Angeles, the company offers the most flights to the most destinations across Latin America compared to any other carrier, including up to 18 daily nonstop flights to 12 cities throughout the region this winter.

The Los Angeles-Guatemala City service will have daily frequencies and be operated onboard Alaska’s Boeing 737 fleet. The San Diego-Zihuatanejo and Chicago-Zihuatanejo routes will only have one weekly flight and will also be served onboard 737s.

Improving the connectivity

Kirsten Amrine, vice president of revenue management and network planning for Alaska Airlines, said the company is the fifth largest in the United States and is expanding to more international destinations. “Guatemala is a dynamic new country for us and our guests – full of outdoor adventures, history, and natural beauty. Our new service will allow families, friends, and businesses to better connect between the West Coast and Central America,” she added.

Meanwhile, Alaska Airlines has been flying to Mexico for 35 years. Kirsten Amrine pointed out that it is a favorite destination for many of the company’s guests. “Our new Saturday nonstops to Zihuatanejo from San Diego and Chicago add to our current Los Angeles and San Francisco service and provide guests with more choices as they plan their winter getaways.”

The new service to Guatemala City increases Alaska’s international destinations. The company currently offers flights from Los Angeles and Seattle (SEA) to neighboring Belize (BZE), serves the San José (SJO) and Liberia (LIB) airports in Costa Rica, and, starting on December 15, it will also fly from LAX and SEA to Nassau (NAS) in the Bahamas.

From Portland it flies to Puerto Vallarta and San José del Cabo. It serves Puerto Vallarta and San José del Cabo (and shortly Zihuatanejo) from San Diego.

Meanwhile, from Seattle, it flies to three destinations (Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, and San José); from San Francisco, it serves four destinations (Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, San José del Cabo, and Zihuatanejo), and from San José, California, it flies to Guadalajara, Puerto Vallarta, and San José del Cabo.
